Product Details

Description

Osmocote® Exact Standard 8-9M gives season-long nutrient release, ensuring plants receive the nutrition they need. The blue colour-coded granules help distinguish between products with different release periods.

Osmocote Exact Standard releases nutrients consistently throughout the growing season. This regular, continuous release makes it suitable for a wide range of growing situations, including evergreens, deciduous shrubs and plants with consistent nutrient requirements throughout the growing cycle.

  • Controlled release: provides a continuous supply of nutrients throughout the stated release period.
  • Trace elements: includes essential trace elements to support plant growth.
  • Colour-coded granules: blue granules help identify the 8–9 month formulation and avoid mixing up release periods.
  • Consistent feeding: suited to crops requiring a steady supply of nutrients throughout the growing season.

Application Rates

Choose the application rate according to the crop's feeding requirements. Rates below are expressed as grams of fertiliser per litre of growing medium (g/L).

Plant type Light feeding Normal feeding Heavy feeding
Container nursery stock 3–4 g/L 4–5 g/L 5–6 g/L
Pot plants 3–4 g/L 4–5 g/L 5–6 g/L

Application Example

For a container holding 3 litres of growing medium, an application rate of 5 g/L requires:

3 × 5 = 15 g of fertiliser per container.

These are general recommendations based on unfertilised growing media. Adjust the feeding programme to suit the crop, growing conditions and season, including greenhouse or tunnel production and autumn or winter potting.

Trial on a small scale before changing the application rate, application method or growing programme. Follow the current manufacturer’s guidance and seek technical advice where needed.

How Temperature Affects Longevity

The stated 8–9 month release period is based on a growing-medium temperature of 21°C. Cooler conditions extend the release period, while warmer conditions shorten it.

Growing-medium temperature Approximate nutrient-release period
16°C 10–11 months
21°C 8–9 months
26°C 6–7 months

Consider growing-medium temperature when planning your feeding programme, particularly for crops grown under protection.

Storage

Store in dry conditions. Close partly used or damaged bags securely.

Osmocote Exact Standard 8-9M supplies nutrients for approximately 8–9 months at a growing-medium temperature of 21°C. The “8-9M” refers to its nutrient-release period, not its shelf life. Temperature affects how quickly nutrients are released. In warmer greenhouse or polytunnel conditions, the feeding period may therefore be shorter.

These figures describe the fertiliser’s nutrient content:

  • 15: 15% nitrogen (N).
  • 9: 9% phosphate, expressed as P2O5.
  • 11: 11% potash, expressed as K2O.
  • 2MgO: 2% magnesium oxide.
  • TE: trace elements, which plants need in smaller quantities.

Together, they identify the formulation of Osmocote Exact Standard 8-9M and help you compare it with other fertilisers.

This controlled-release fertiliser is suitable for container nursery stock and pot plants, including evergreen and deciduous shrubs. It suits crops needing a steady nutrient supply over an extended growing cycle. Choose the application rate and longevity according to your crop’s requirements and growing conditions.
