Aquatrols Primer® Select is a high performance soil surfactant that is the foundation of an effective rootzone management programme. It enhances turfgrass uniformity by establishing matrix flow in the rootzone, thus increasing water use efficiency in treated areas of highly managed turf.

Aquatrols Primer Select reduces soil water repellency that commonly occurs in the thatch and upper 1-2 inches of the soil profile of highly managed turf, particularly putting greens.

By managing soil hydrophobicity, Aquatrols Primer Select enhances the penetration and infiltration of water into the rootzone throughout the growing season.

What It Does

Aquatrols Primer Select ensures uniform movement, distribution and availability of moisture in the rootzone and overcomes water repellency in soils.

Where And When To Use

Aquatrols Primer Select is recommended for use on turfgrasses such as those found on golf courses, athletic fields, residential and commercial turf areas. Primer Select may be safely applied at any time during the growing season.

Best Practices 

• More consistent results may be achieved with more regular applications.
• For best results, apply at least 1/3 inch (7.5 mm) of irrigation after application.
• If runoff or puddling occur, water in using cycle/soak runs until 1/3 inch (7.5 mm) is achieved.
• Irrigate before next mowing.
• Seeding; to enhance stand establishment, use 4 fl oz/1000 ft2 rate and apply 2 weeks before seeding.

Initial Application 

Begin applications at least one month prior to the onset of stress conditions. Under high stress situations, such as presence of localized dry spot (LDS), above average growing degree days (GDD), and/or low rainfall, an application of Aqueduct® should be applied 7 days prior to the first application of Primer Select.

Choose the Rate Most Suitable for Your Turf Programme

• Apply 2 oz per 1000 sq. ft. in 2 gallons of water (65 ml per 100 m2 in 7.6 L of water) every 14 days.
• Apply 4 oz per 1000 sq. ft. in 2 gallons of water (125 ml per 100 m2 in 7.6 L of water) every 21 days.
• Apply 4-6 oz per 1000 sq. ft. in 2 gallons of water (125-180 ml per 100 m2 in 7.6 L of water) every 30 days.

Tank Mixing

Primer Select can be safely applied in a tank mix with a range of commonly used turf chemicals and fertilizers at rates not exceeding 4 fl oz/1000 ft2. When turf managers are selecting a new tank mix combination with Primer Select, Aquatrols® recommends a jar test be conducted to determine compatibility prior to large volume tank mixing.
