Product Details

Description

For the biological control of crane fly larve, Noctuidae, mole crickets and caterpillars in lawns.

HOW SPORTNEM-T WORKS

After application, the nematodes actively search for their prey and penetrate them. The nematodes feed on the contents of the prey, excreting specific bacteria from their digestive tracts as they do so. These bacteria convert host tissue into products that the nematodes can easily ingest. The larvae die within a few days. Once the insect larva has been entirely eaten, the nematodes crawl out again to prey on other larvae.

APPLICATION

Preparation of the solution

  1. Half an hour before preparing the product, remove the pack from the refrigerator and let it come up to room temperature (20°C)

  2. Break the contents of the sachet (250 million Steinernema carpocapsae) into smaller pieces. Use the entire pack and place the smaller pieces in a bucket containing five litres of water (at 15 to 20°C)

  3. Leave the bucket with the solution to stand for five minutes

  4. Then stir the solution until all the lumps have disappeared before transferring it to the spray tank

  5. Use the spray solution straight away

Application and dosage

  1. Remove all gauze openings of less than 0.3 mm (50 mesh) in order to prevent blockages.

  2. You can use a watering can, backpack spray unit, motorized spraying system, or sprinkler system.

  3. Use as little pressure as possible (max. 20 bar)

  4. Use the contents immediately after preparation.

  5. Apply the solution homogenously over the area to be treated.

  6. Apply the solution late in the evening or early in the morning.

IMPORTANT: Spray the lawn before and after the application of the product with 2-5 litres per m2 and keep the ground moist for a period of two weeks after application.

BEST WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The moisture content of the soil must be high
  • Soil temperature between 14 and 33°C
  • Nematodes are susceptible to ultraviolet light (UV): do not use them in direct sunlight
  • Leaf applications should only be carried out in the evening to minimise the influence of UV light and to maximise moisture availability for the nematodes

Clover Multi-Purpose Compost is a peat-based growing medium for all plants. It is suitable for seed sowing, potting-on, containers, hanging baskets, tubs, vegetables, and bedding plants. It’s one of the most versatile composts for both home and professional gardeners.

Yes, Clover Multi-Purpose is an all-purpose compost designed for almost every type of plant. However, for lime-hating plants such as rhododendrons, camellias, and azaleas, we recommend using an ericaceous compost for best results.

Clover Multi-Purpose is peat-based, giving it superior water-holding capacity, root aeration, and consistent performance. Many gardeners prefer it over peat-free options for reliability, though we also stock peat-free alternatives if you want an eco-friendly choice.

Yes, this compost is enriched with nutrients to feed plants for up to 4–6 weeks after planting. For longer-term growth, simply add a liquid or granular fertiliser once the initial feed runs out.

Absolutely. The fine, consistent texture makes it excellent for seed germination and young seedlings. Just follow your seed packet instructions for sowing depth and watering.

Yes. This compost has excellent moisture retention and drainage, making it one of the best composts for hanging baskets, patio tubs, and containers. It helps prevent plants from drying out too quickly, especially in warm weather.

No, it is not certified organic as it contains peat and added fertiliser. If you’re looking for an organic compost, we can recommend suitable peat-free alternatives.
