Description

Barenbrug Sport SOS Grass Seed gives fast germination to repair worn or damaged surfaces in the coldest months.

☑ Football ☑ Rugby ☑ Racing & Racecourses ☑ Renovation & Repair ☑ Education Environments

  • Purpose-bred varieties, designed for emergency repair during winter months
  • Fast germination, establishment and growth
  • Overseeding and patching blend of ryegrass species that germinate and grow vigorously at very low temperatures

Usage

  • Designed for emergency mid-season turf repair, aiming for the fastest possible germination, establishment and growth in cool temperatures.

Features & Benefits

  • Barolympic provides a longer-term solution with good performance characteristics. Barolympic is a particularly wear tolerant variety but it has an additional trait that makes it a perfect fit for this mixture.
  • In repeat testing, Barolympic consistently outperforms other ryegrasses for low temperature germination.
  • Barenbrug research shows the advantages of using a hard-wearing diploid perennial ryegrass, rather than a tetraploid alternative, as a partner to annual ryegrasses for winter grass seed mixtures.
  • In recent trials - overseeded in January at a soil temperature of 6.2°C - SOS was shown to establish and restore a sward faster than a perennial ryegrass, recovering from 20% to more than 60% within a month (see graph below).

Clover Multi-Purpose Compost is a peat-based growing medium for all plants. It is suitable for seed sowing, potting-on, containers, hanging baskets, tubs, vegetables, and bedding plants. It’s one of the most versatile composts for both home and professional gardeners.

Yes, Clover Multi-Purpose is an all-purpose compost designed for almost every type of plant. However, for lime-hating plants such as rhododendrons, camellias, and azaleas, we recommend using an ericaceous compost for best results.

Clover Multi-Purpose is peat-based, giving it superior water-holding capacity, root aeration, and consistent performance. Many gardeners prefer it over peat-free options for reliability, though we also stock peat-free alternatives if you want an eco-friendly choice.

Yes, this compost is enriched with nutrients to feed plants for up to 4–6 weeks after planting. For longer-term growth, simply add a liquid or granular fertiliser once the initial feed runs out.

Absolutely. The fine, consistent texture makes it excellent for seed germination and young seedlings. Just follow your seed packet instructions for sowing depth and watering.

Yes. This compost has excellent moisture retention and drainage, making it one of the best composts for hanging baskets, patio tubs, and containers. It helps prevent plants from drying out too quickly, especially in warm weather.

No, it is not certified organic as it contains peat and added fertiliser. If you’re looking for an organic compost, we can recommend suitable peat-free alternatives.
