Product Details

Description

The traditional 80:20 mix of red fescue and browntop bentgrass, for a consistent and balanced fine-turf sward when sowing out greens.

☑ Golf Greens ☑ Bowling Greens

  • 80:20 fescue: bent remains the preferred option in independent trials for seeding out new golf greens
  • Combination of high shoot density and disease tolerance assists in out-competing Poa annua

USAGE

  • Construction of free-draining fine-turf areas. Golf greens.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Red fescue contributes to 80% of the mixture and is made up of both slender creeping red fescue and Chewings red fescue. The combination of these two sub-species offers the best solution for year-round performance and growth in fescue-dominant turf.
  • Includes the highly rated Chewings red fescues, Bodega and Barlineus, slender creeping red fescues, Baroustie and Barquess, which are both new additions for 2025. These are combined with the #3 rated available browntop bentgrass on the market, Charles, with a mean score of 7.6 in Table G1 of Turfgrass Seed 2025, and BarKing with exceptional Microdochium Patch disease (Fusarium) tolerance and superior winter colour.
  • Chewings fescues will generally be most active in spring through to mid-summer, whereas slender creepers “kick-in” during early summer and perform to autumn.

Clover Multi-Purpose Compost is a peat-based growing medium for all plants. It is suitable for seed sowing, potting-on, containers, hanging baskets, tubs, vegetables, and bedding plants. It’s one of the most versatile composts for both home and professional gardeners.

Yes, Clover Multi-Purpose is an all-purpose compost designed for almost every type of plant. However, for lime-hating plants such as rhododendrons, camellias, and azaleas, we recommend using an ericaceous compost for best results.

Clover Multi-Purpose is peat-based, giving it superior water-holding capacity, root aeration, and consistent performance. Many gardeners prefer it over peat-free options for reliability, though we also stock peat-free alternatives if you want an eco-friendly choice.

Yes, this compost is enriched with nutrients to feed plants for up to 4–6 weeks after planting. For longer-term growth, simply add a liquid or granular fertiliser once the initial feed runs out.

Absolutely. The fine, consistent texture makes it excellent for seed germination and young seedlings. Just follow your seed packet instructions for sowing depth and watering.

Yes. This compost has excellent moisture retention and drainage, making it one of the best composts for hanging baskets, patio tubs, and containers. It helps prevent plants from drying out too quickly, especially in warm weather.

No, it is not certified organic as it contains peat and added fertiliser. If you’re looking for an organic compost, we can recommend suitable peat-free alternatives.
